Liberty Seated Quarters
Engraver Christian Gobrect designed the Seated Liberty Half Dollar which ran from 1839-1891. The coin shows liberty seated on a rock, holding a shield in her right hand, symbolic of national readiness. In her left hand, she holds a pole topped with a liberty cap, symbolic of American freedom.
